I never thought I’d use the ethnomusicology part of my undergrad degree. Then I discovered Hallyu, and the light bulb went on. I have decades of pop fandom to my name, but it’s all new and different 7,000 miles to the east and viewed through the lenses of appropriation, feminism, and dubious maturity.
